OUR SACRED BEGINNINGS · 1984

Rooted In
Faith

Before there were steeples or cedar pews, there was simply a circle of open hearts, worn Bibles, and a collective willingness to follow where grace led.

CHAPTER I · THE SEED

Seven Families, One Kitchen Table

In the brisk October of 1984, seven pioneering families made the quiet yet momentous decision to step beyond the familiar walls of institutional convention. With neither formal building committee nor savings account to lean upon, they converged every Thursday evening around an oak table lit by kerosene lamps.

Their initial leap was costly: reputations were staked, modest personal savings were pooled, and hours were spent counseling struggling neighbors long into the night. They were united by a solitary, quiet certainty: that a true sanctuary is measured not by towering masonry, but by the depth of hospitality extended to the wanderer.

CHAPTER II · THE TIMBER

Raised by Hands, Secured in Hope

By the spring of 1988, the growing fellowship had outpaced the rented legion hall. Armed with little more than hand-drawn sketches and donated timber from local sawmills, the community broke ground on an overgrown parcel along the river ridge.

Carpenters worked alongside schoolteachers every Saturday dawn, hoisting cedar trusses under skies heavy with rain. Every nail was set with a prayer of thanksgiving. The building was not raised for prestige, but as an enduring shelter where the broken-hearted could find rest.

OUR THEOLOGICAL PILLARS

What We
Believe

Theology should never feel like an intimidating barrier or ivory tower debate. These three core commitments anchor how we worship, serve, and walk alongside one another in everyday life.

PILLAR 01

Grace Over Performance

Faith is not an exhausting ladder of moral striving, but an invitation to rest in unmerited love. We believe God meets us right where we are, welcoming every doubt, question, and honest story without condemnation.

Ephesians 2:8-9 • Extravagant Welcome

PILLAR 02

Scripture for Real Life

We hold Scripture as a living, inspired narrative that shapes our ethics and relationships. Rather than a weapon for debate or rigid rulebook, the Bible serves as a trustworthy compass pointing toward Christ.

Psalm 119:105 • Living Wisdom

PILLAR 03

Community in Action

Belief without practical compassion is incomplete. We exist to be good news in our neighborhoods: sharing tables, defending the marginalized, and nurturing authentic hospitality where nobody walks alone.

Micah 6:8 • Tangible Mercy
